Gusman Productions picked up the Gethin Thomas Comedy Award at the Audio Production Awards 2022, won Silver Award at the Arias in 2021, and has amassed over 30 award nominations to date including 9 noms at the Celtic Media Awards!

In collaboration with Whyte & Mackay and Punk Creative, we took a comedic approach to smooth things over between the nations that make up the British and Irish Lions ahead of their tour. We say ‘smoothing things over’, but it was more about making sure each nation got an equal amount of abuse. Except for England, of course.
The videos received over 100,000 views on YouTube alone and were a smash hit across these fair isles (but mainly outside England).
THE GUSMAN STORY
Founded by Gus Beattie, Gusman Productions has a history of award-winning comedy, but there’s a lot more to come.
After starting out as an aspiring comedy writer penning sketches for shows such as BBC Scotland's “Only An Excuse?” and developing a sitcom with the BBC, Gus Beattie’s comedy producer break came in April 2003 when he was appointed Executive Producer for Radio at Scotland’s top independent comedy producer The Comedy Unit.
For 13 years, he was responsible for creating and producing award-winning shows for BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio 5 Live and working across TV development and production. In TV, he co-created BBC Scotland’s Gaelic comedy showcase “Comadaidh Oir” (Comedy Gold). He was also Assistant Producer for BBC Scotland’s football chat show “Offside” with Tam Cowan from 2004 to 2007.
In 2016 he set up his own indie Gusman Productions and continues to build his reputation for UK-wide audio comedy production with BBC Radio 4 shows such as “Fags, Mags & Bags” written by Sanjeev Kohli and Donald Mcleary, and co-producing “The Absolutely Radio Show” starring Peter Baikie, Morwenna Banks, Moray Hunter, Gordon Kennedy and John Sparkes.
In his time at The Comedy Unit he worked with talent such as Ford Kiernan, Karen Dunbar, Kayvan Novak, Greg Hemphill, Morwenna Banks, Greg McHugh, Alistair McGowan, Gordon Kennedy, Susan Calman, Kevin Bridges, Frankie Boyle, Gavin Mitchell, Jonathan Watson, Jack Docherty, Moray Hunter, Miles Jupp, and AL Kennedy.
With good working relationships with top comedy talent, agents & commissioners, Gusman Productions hit the ground running with several commissions for Radio Scotland & Radio 4. Along with the core approach of acquiring BBC Radio business for scripted comedy that could potentially transfer to TV or online, Gusman produce short form content for key broadcasters and are also keen to explore the emerging market for branded comedy content in the commercial space. Gusman Productions aim to take their experience and knowledge to the next level with content creation not only for Radio but Online & TV as well.
